How long does it take to boil eggs in an air fryer?
Whether it’s soft, jammy or hard – it’s all down to the weight, temperature and timings. Do bear in mind that there are many variations in both eggs and air fryers. This may affect the timings a little.
To help remove some of the guesswork, I tested different sized eggs and various timings. Here is a guide to help you:
| Egg Size | Soft Boiled | Jammy/Gooey | Hard Boiled |
|---|---|---|---|
| 60g | 7-8 mins | X | 9 mins |
| 65g | 8 mins | 9 mins | 10 mins |
| 70g | 8-9 mins | 10 mins | 11 mins |

Ingredients
There is only 1 ingredient in this recipe… eggs!
The type you buy is entirely up to you. But do be aware that the cooking times may change based on your choice. (See How long does it take to boil eggs in an air fryer for help with this.)
Not sure what size your eggs are? Weigh them before you start! A standard large egg in the UK is usually around 60-70g. The weight is what determines your cooking time in this recipe.
Sometimes the shape of your eggs can affect things too. For example a taller slimmer egg will cook slightly different to a shorter dumpier egg. However, I’ve been using this method for several years now, and it VERY rarely lets me down!

Emma’s top tips
Here are tips you’ll find helpful when making boiled eggs in the air fryer.
- The timings in this recipe are based on using refrigerated eggs. If yours are room temperature, you will need to factor this in.
- Weigh your eggs and use this cooking time guide for perfect results every time.
- The shape of your eggs could affect the cooking times. Some are tall and thin, others are short and more round. You’ll get the hang of it the more you make them.
- Do the cooking times differ using your chosen ingredients/equipment? Weigh your eggs before cooking and make a note of the timings for future reference.
- Note that all air fryers vary. This could affect timings.
- Place your eggs directly into the air fryer drawer. Don’t put them on anything (baking paper, tray, dish etc) as this will alter the cooking time.

Timings
Have limited time? Struggle with recipe timings? Or juggling around other things? Here’s some time managing info to make your life easier.
- There is no need to bring eggs to room temperature in this recipe. The timings are based on using refrigerated eggs.
- Preheating your air fryer should only take 1-2 minutes. And the eggs will cook in around 7-11 mins. Making the total time between 8 – 13 mins. It really is a very quick recipe.

Ingredients
Here is what you will need to make 1 Egg (easily multiplied)
- 1 x Egg *
*Timings based on using refrigerated eggs
Essential equipment
- Air Fryer #
#I use a Ninja Foodi Max Dual Zone 9.5L air fryer.
Instructions
First thing’s first. Preheat your air fryer to 150ºC (302ºF). It should only need 1-2 minutes to come up to temperature.

Then place your egg directly into the drawer. Do not line the drawer, or place your egg on anything else.

Depending on the size of your egg, and whether you want soft, jammy or hard boiled – cook at 150ºC (302ºF) for the following time:
- 60g – Soft 7-8 mins / Jammy X / Hard 9 mins
- 65g – Soft 8 mins / Jammy 9 mins / Hard 10 mins
- 70g – Soft 8-9 mins / Jammy 10 mins / Hard 11 mins
If you’re making soft boiled (dippy eggs) – place in an egg cup, slice the top off, and serve immediately with toast.

If you’re making jammy or hard boiled eggs – gently crack the egg all over, then place immediately into a bowl of very cold water for about 10 minutes. (This prevents that unsightly green tinge around the yolk.)
You may wish to change the water once or twice if it warms up too much.

Once the eggs are cold, peel them under water (this makes it easier). Then slice and serve however you like!

FAQs
Yes! Air fryer boiled eggs use less energy than boiling a kettle or heating a pan of water, making them cheaper to make. And despite the name, there’s no water involved at all – just dry heat. Simple and cost effective!
I’ve tried a few different temperatures, and found the best for air fried eggs to be about 150ºC (302ºF).
Yes! Although technically it’s not really boiling an egg, it’s baking it. But you achieve the same results. In this recipe, there is no water required. You simply preheat your air fryer for 1-2 mins and pop in your eggs. Then set the temperature and time. No water, no faff, no judgement calls.
The timings in this recipe are based on refrigerated eggs. If yours are stored at room temperature, start by reducing the time by 1-2 minutes and adjust from there, as all eggs and air fryers vary slightly.
Yes – peeling them under cold water makes it much easier! Gently crack the shell all over first, then peel while submerged. The water gets under the shell and helps it slip off much more cleanly.

Tried this method and it’s a total game-changer perfectly set yolks and peel-off every time! I had just grabbed some trays of free-range eggs, and using quality ingredients like that really shows. Made breakfast feel a bit more special, especially being so far from the UK 🥚

Emma, your instructions are perfect . I am addicted to air fryer boiled eggs as they are so easy and so good. I like them cooked long enough to slice on toast. I have used both a Daewoo aiŕ fryer and now in my Ninja. I preheat for 2 minutes at 150 then put the eggs in and do them for 10 minutes. I use room temperature eggs as I don't keep my eggs in the fridge. I always use large eggs. All of your air fryer recipes are bang on. Yours is the site I always go to first when cooking something new in my air fryer, thank you.

Hi there! I haven't actually tested this yet. But I would start with 1-2 mins less that the refrigerated times. Then work from there, to see what works best with the eggs/air fryer you have. Hope this helps! Emma x
